It's a small mat that prevents thing from moving.
Of course it will depend of the surface of contact were is't put on.
I use it in my car so that my cellphone doesn't move, and it works preety good.
also tested it puting the GPS over the boards and start driving. It moved a litte, but as I told you before the surface was kind of curvy so didn't make 100% contact.
